Despite its incredible speed, there’s a subtle disconnect between the numbers on the speedometer and the sensation behind the wheel. The M8’s exceptional noise isolation, while contributing to its luxurious cabin, also diminishes the visceral driving experience. Its precise yet somewhat numb electronic power steering and optional carbon-ceramic brakes (costing upwards of $8,000) offer limited feedback. Even the engine note, artificially enhanced through the car’s speakers, sounds somewhat muted. While it doesn’t completely eliminate the sensation of the car’s weight in tight corners, the enhanced daily drivability is well worth the compromise.
